Joe Chandler and Alfredo “Freddie” Alejandro are partners operating Independent Pipe Services. The two of them worked together 13 years for a pipe manufacturing company before they had the opportunity to buy an existing pipe business in June of 2013. Their business was growing and operating smoothly before the oil crash in 2015. Most of their competitors closed their doors, but Independent Pipe was able to stay in business. Our servicing department was able to work out a payment arrangement that fit their needs. They also were able to start making pipes for use in the construction industry, so they did not have to be completely reliant on the oil market. The Independent Pipe story is why we do what we do here at North Texas CDC. We share the Small Business Administration’s mission in truly helping small business owners grow and stay in business through difficult times. Sean Sawyer and his team create modern muscle cars using the shells of your favorite classic cars, then designing the vehicle systems as they build the car. He had done some research on the SBA loan programs and spoke with his banker about the options. They decided the SBA 504 loan would best serve his business needs. He purchased a building in Pilot Point, north of Denton, Texas. He had a large backup of cars to work on when he moved in, so he went to work and hired 2 full time employees. Sean’s business has grown and done extremely well in his new location. Sean said the purchase of his building would not have been possible without the SBA 504 loan, and the growth of his business has flourished as a result. Check out some of Sean’s work on his website.
Mystic Quarry just celebrated their opening in style with a Grand Opening Party over the weekend of May 19th. Mystic Quarry utilized the SBA 504 Loan program to purchase an existing RV Park. The 504 also included major renovations to develop a unique and modern campground, RV park and resort near the Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake. Owners Jim and Courtney Trent brought to life the property that used to be known as Riverside Resort. They have pet-friendly cottages, modern tiny homes, Boho Tipis, RV lots and primitive campground sites. The property also has a swimming pool, gym, dog parks, hiking and biking trails, and some sports courts. If you are looking for a unique hill country vacation spot, consider booking with Mystic Quarry. You can read more about the Trents and Mystic Quarry in this article by The New Braunfels Scene.
